I Don't Care

“I don’t care!” Have you heard that before? Were you offended? Well, my friends, today I tell you, “I don’t care!” I have much to catch you up on in my life since my last post, which was forever ago.

My Christmas was a blessing…cash paid, enjoyable time with children, and some pretty diamond hoop earrings.

My New Year was celebrated with several thousand young people. We praised the Lord, heard some great preaching, and refocused our attention on serving our Lord Jesus in the New Year.

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it." (Isaiah 30:21)

I was happy to celebrate a friend’s New Year’s Eve birthday and shared in his recommitment into his music ministry.

Financially, we are pulling our heads out of the deep water…paying off most medical debt, paying tithes, and working hard.

Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be content with what you have; for he has said, "I will never leave you or forsake you." So we can say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?" (Hebrews 13:5-6)

Blessed with a membership to a wonderful gym to help be get healthy which is her focus (love her)…which in my head the truth is I need this to lose weight.

Sounds good so far, right?

Well, this year we bought Cory a nice, sporty, economical car. We found it on a Thursday and Tim’s car was hit and totaled the same night. Hello, Lord? Are you testing? Well, I must not complain about money because my “baby” son and his girlfriend walked away with scrapes. Praise the Lord Almighty His hands of protection were faithfully there.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," delares the Lord, "and will bring you back from captivity." (Jeremiah 29:11-14a) (My scripture prayer for Tim.)

“I” (remember the “I”) decided that we would move to a smaller house and either be closer to the gym or work. Well, my beloved “heart daughter” took the boot from her boyfriends house. It was an amicable break up and in my opinion necessary for her to truly find her heart and life in God’s will. Well, when you are homeless, where do you go? To Mom’s right? Yes, my home has the pitter patter and batter of 2 young ins as they say here in the south, plus their mom. Praise the Lord for their presence because my house is warmer with Brooke’s help financially, the home is less lonely, and Brooke cooks! My family has enjoyed her meals and I enjoy coming home to a clean kitchen and some supper on the stove. I get home late most nights.

God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. (Hebrews 6:10)

My job is good. We are remodeling the office and working out job descriptions, and personalities. There is some stress due to busy-ness. Praise the Lord I am employed and better yet our office is more of a ministry mindset which gives care and love not just health.

So we do not lose heart. Even though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day. For this slight momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure, because we look not at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:16-18)

I can go on and on but this isn’t the point of my blog today. I have decided to see my life through positive, Holy Spirit inspired eyes.

When I said, "My foot is slipping," your love, O Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul. (Psalm 94:18-19)

With every challenge and test there is always something to give praise for and see God’s hand. This really isn’t a new attitude because this is mostly my norm. However, I have added a new dimension to my thinking. “I don’t care!”

Friends, we worry about things. We fret. We plan. We exhaust ourselves thinking, wondering, and daydreaming of better days. Some of you are saying, “Well I always pray.” Well so do I but I am guilty of still doing the above. This Jesus girl isn’t “all that” apparently.

So here is what the Bible tells me in regards to “doing life” here on earth.

Psalm 55:22 (New International Version)
22 Cast your cares on the LORD
and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.

Isaiah 41:10 (New International Version)
10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Psalm 34:17 (New International Version)
17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.

1 Peter 5:7 (New International Version)
7Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Are you getting it my friends? I realize theses verses are not in context but look them up and glean the passages to help you “do life” this year. We are not “doing it” alone! We don’t have to care! We are to cast these cares, anxieties, troubles, distractions, and trials on him.

Matthew 11:28-29 (New International Version)
28"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Friends, we mustn’t think that our Lord Jesus doesn’t understand. His word says:

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who in every respect has been tested as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)

See, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh; is anything too hard for me? (Jeremiah 32:27)

I say this year we rest in peace here on earth. We will lay our head on our pillows at night saying “Praise the Lord, nothing happened today that you and I didn’t handle together. I didn’t “care” because I am commanded to cast my cares on you. Woo Hoo!

I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. (Psalm 4:8)
