My husband and I just saw a movie clip for a children's movie called "Where the Wild Things Are". It threw me back to a cozy pretty home in Tryon, NC, where I spent many wonderful moments reading to my boys. My boys loved the book, Where the Wild Things Are. The book we read was a thin, childs version, 1963 picture book with very few sentences. The film version is way different from the original story. The movie industry wanted to bring in a comtemporary issue...let's not even go there. Back to the story. A little boy gets in trouble and sent to bed without supper. He goes to where the wild things are and befriends them. When he returns the mom is waiting with his supper. My boys loved the story.
I love the imaginations of children. I watch my Js use their imaginations. I had to laugh recently when Jayden and I were organizing my deck in the back of the house. I have a kitchen set up there for her. She had Tim's (his when he was 3) bright red tricycle on the deck. I asked her if we should put it off the deck. She said "No. I used it to go to work and shop." Lol! Children love to imagine and they love to imitate. Too sweet!
Today I am going to enjoy the company of a 10 year old, nature loving, little girl. She, her mother, sister and I are going to a apple farm and pumpkin patch. I want to look with new eyes. The eyes that say "I am so excited to be here." I want the innocence and purity of enjoying the moment. Maybe I will play fight for the biggest pumpkin, the reddest apples, and biggest cabbage. She may not fight me for the cabbage.
Girlfriends, no big exciting news. I just wanted to post something light and not so serious. I know my chapters of life have been heavy with life lessons and struggles. I still have them but not today. They are far from my mind. Today, I am going where the wild things are......my imagination lived out through the eyes of a 10 year old girl!
Click on Title for a Movie Clip. It's still going to be a good movie I believe. I want to go. Anyone want to join me?
