Friday Finds

Oh what a joy of a morning I had…nothing like getting a good deal on something special.  This morning I dragged Kevin to a huge yard sale at a local church.  I found a lot of treasure, cheap!  I found a wool, Persian, small carpet for $2.00, an older Scrabble game in the box for $5-it has the tray top for the tiles to set in and is on a turntable.  The tiles are dark cherry.  I also found some old cookie cutters like my mom had when we were growing up-fun, fun, some Christmas ribbon for 25 cents, 4 books like brand new $2.00 for all-2 childrens, and 2 Bible study type from Max Lucado, some quality fake pearls for Jayden to play with $1, but the biggest steals were a Samsung flat screen monitor for $2 that’s two dollars for Kevin and a next to new all leather Fossil handbag for $1.50.  It was fun to see who found the best deal.  Kevin won!

Some of you probably hate yard sales.  I have heard people say they are nasty…all the used stuff. I hear people say they are uncomfortable at them.  I look at them as not only a way to get items I need for cheap but for a social time as well.  I see people I know and we share our finds.  I do admit I am not one to go “digging” but I am learning.  Kevin moved a box of cushions and found his monitor.  The lady said all monitors are $2.  I didn’t take Kevin long to say “Sold!”  We brought our stuff home and I will load them up in the dishwasher, soak some in bleach, and wipe some down with disinfectant.  I justify my yard sale shopping as the ultimate way to do the environment good….recycle!

It doesn’t take too much to make me happy these days.  I am learning to find joy in the simple things.  I hope you all have a great weekend.  I just got a text from a friend with a dancing chicken saying “it’s Friday!”  We love Fridays around here.  Kevin comes out of his office for air. Lol!
I am leaving you with a verse I randomly saw this morning in the Bible.  It was comical to me for some reason.  Let’s see what you think.  Maybe we should consider the company we keep this weekend.

New Living Translation:  Proverbs 15:17
A bowl of vegetables with someone you love is better than steak with someone you hate.
