So I am sitting in my new office at home, I am looking out two large windows. I have a wonderful view of the mountains. Kevin informs me that the view is even better now but it cost some great trees their stature. Within the last few days, the trees have been cleared from a back lot that formerly blocked part of the view. We have nothing to do with the removal of the trees. Apparently whoever owns the lot has decided clearing is necessary. So now the view is bittersweet. Now I wonder if the trees were cleared for a more ominous reason…housing, buildings, etc. Well, there goes the joy of my view. I am suddenly distracted by the unknown.
My life can be like that. I can be so distracted by the unknown and “what ifs” that I don’t enjoy the wonderful views, people, etc. in front of me. I don’t appreciate that maybe a relationship or item cost something or required something from someone…think freedom, think time investment, etc. Maybe if I just relaxed and enjoyed the moment and appreciated the views, I could find more peace and contentment. My life doesn’t’ have to be focused with lists, calendars, and schedules, and if I must hang on to them (I think I do or want to) then I must schedule in lots of “appreciation” time. You know, to enjoy the view outside my window. I now see not only cut down trees, but lovely rolls of hay, green lush grass, sculpted hills, and some old strong trees, all filtered through a light smoky haze. It’s simply country pretty! Speaking of pretty, to my left is a gorgeous magnolia tree with huge blossoms. The leaves are shiny and I love the fragrance…well I would if I opened the window and I would enjoy the view more if a great big weed wasn’t overtaking my window. Lol! There you go - old habits are hard to break…I just had to find a distraction! Pray for me, girlfriends!!!
Have a great day. I am off to the grocery store to buy cat food before my leg becomes their food. They are following my every step. The little beggars!
