Sun Beautiful!

I saw the most beautiful thing this morning, and it wasn't me in the mirror! Lol! It was something that has truly touched me and I believe will affect my life.

Last night Brooke and the kids spent the night. It was a fun and relaxing time. The kids were already talking about breakfast in the morning. Of course, they wanted chocolate chip pancakes with sprinkles, and of course this morning I made them.

After breakfast, Brooke was gathering the kids things before taking them to school. Jordan was bouncing a ball off the fireplace. I was sitting at the dining table staying out of the way. Jayden came from the bathroom looking so cute in her capris, layered top, and high ponytail 5 years old going on 12. Then it happened...

Jayden approached my french doors leading to the deck. She was totally unaware of any one looking at her. Everyone was so busy. She ran to the "sun light" with her arms reaching out as if to hug it. Then she stepped back. She crossed her arms infront of her waist. She closed her eyes and breathed in deeply. Then she opened her eyes and went bouncing to the TV room.

Do you get, girlfriends? She took in the sun. She enjoyed something so simple, so God given! She ran to the light and then soaked it up. How spiritual is that? She looked so beautiful and was so sincere. This is a little girl who draws pictures of a family with a dad, a dad she does not live with now. This is a little girl whose dad walked up to her holding the hand of another woman's little girl. This is a little girl who has had heartbreak in her little 5 year old life. Yet, this little girl can still appreciate something as simple as the "sun".

Tears, Girlfriends, I got tears!!

I'm gonna soak up the sun
I'm gonna tell everyone
To lighten up (I'm gonna tell 'em that)
I've got no one to blame
For every time I feel lame
I'm looking up

I'm gonna soak up the sun
I'm gonna soak up the sun
