This weekend I experienced some sweet moments and they filled my heart.
- I saw a young boy thrilled with his find at our missions yard sale early Saturday morning.
- I saw my husband talking and laughing with the preacher. My husband seemed relaxed and happy.
- I laughed with a mom and her two teenage boys as we discussed how fun it would be to go on mission together with our church. It was good to know that these boys loved Christ in the midst of their challenging teenage years.
- I loved sitting with my son Tim and sharing a meal. He wasn't obstinate and he said thank you after he finished.
- I enjoyed hearing the lawn mower going and seeing my husband getting dirty and sweaty. It was out of the normal for him...it looked good on him.
- I took in the smell of fresh cut grass while sitting on my front porch. Wind chimes were swaying in the light wind.
- I went to church on Sunday. I had a headache and some pain...but the Word of God penetrated. I was humbled.
- I wrote a few cards to encourage a few people and it made me smile. My life is better for thinking of someone else.
- I cried with a friend as we shared recent hurts and disappointments. I cherished the experience of having a best friend.
- I ate Starburst candy. I felt the chewy texture and tasted the creamy fruit flavors. It wasn't anything fancy but it made me smile.
- I stood, sat, and leaned while I chatted with 5 young ladies during a Bible study. They were talkative and opened their hearts. I was swung back into my teenage mind. It's tough out there for them. I am grateful I can help. We all just want to be good "Jesus girls".
- I sat on the porch and heard a friend say, "I love you. You don't have to justify your feelings." She is a sister by heart.
- I drank a chocolate shake with my supper. Kevin made the shake. I was okay with the indulgence. Thank God for providing the sweets in life.
- I woke up this morning with a headache again. I took meds and fell back into a deep sleep. My bed was warm and comfortable. Thank you for these simple comforts, Jesus.
- Before Kevin got out of bed, he said a prayer for me and our family. I can't put a price tag on that.
Friends, my life isn't glamorous, rich or cultured. My life is filled with simple pleasures, comforts, and love. My life is colorful....bright and sunny some days, and dark and oppressive at times. I can't complain. God is good no matter what. I can find joy in my life if I just look around, stop and listen, or just plain breathe and inhale the fragrance of rain, fresh cut grass or whatever life provides.
Today is good. It's raining and it is cleansing. Let's see what pleasure I can find in grocery shopping. Lol!
Love you bunches! (Love it when my friend says this)
Here's a sweet simple worship song. Enjoy!
