Rule Breaker

I am looking at a picture of me and a girlfriend that sits on my desk.  It is enclosed in a frame that says, "If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun."  We have been known to have some silly times and rebel moments.  We never fail to have a good laugh when we spend time together.  Why does it feel good to do something out of the ordinary?  Why does it feel good to break out of the "goody two shoes" mode?  Let's face it, why does it feel good to break the rules?  I would guess that breaking a mold, a label, or an expectation can be exhilarating, until it goes too far.

These days I find myself questioning my motives and actions more.  It's not that I want to be "better than thou" perfect or super spiritual, but more like watching for my "carnal" side not to take over.  I love spontaneity, and free spirited activity.  I like breaking bonds, chains, and confinements so I can breathe deeply and enjoy the moment...enjoy me.  Yet, I know that doing so calls for responsible choices and behavior that represents my inner heart and convictions which is Godliness in midst of a life without limits.

Today I fill my heart with what's true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8).  I will not miss out on "fun" but enjoy obeying God's rules...His commands.  This is where the true freedom and spontaneity exist!  We can do this life with God's grace.  No rituals, no penance, and no more walking in man's opinion.  We are free to obey Him, receive His promises and have fun along the way.  Go for it!

Actually, GO BREAK SOME RULES...the rules YOU place on yourself.  Remember, if you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun!

These two never seemed to get the rules right...but oh the fun they had.
Enjoy a good and Godly day!
