Seeing Red

Hello, my friends. I am ready to do another entry for this ever long diary. I am laughing inside today at my silliness. I am truly a work in progress. I should know better and I guess in reality I did know that there is no such thing as a workable schedule for me. Just as soon as I say, Lord I am going to organize my days to include all MY wants and responsibilities; He reminds me that He can’t be put on a schedule.

I wasn’t trying to set up a minute by minute schedule but I did want to place some activities into a semblance of order. NOT! I get an eye infection, respiratory virus/infection, friends drop in or call, I run out to see friend, or call them, there are doctor visits, and an impromptu visit to Asheville to an eye specialist, not to mention housecleaning, laundry, and time alone with loved ones. All these things happen in two days! I am brought to His word and in prayer. He is the priority and He will get my attention. Ouch!

So here I am today. My eye is swollen and red. Not pink eye but some other irritation. My lungs are filled with who knows what and my head feels like a balloon, tight and ready to explode. Yes, I have my famous hair band on, no make up and I am beautiful!

I managed to clean my house and get the laundry done yesterday. It took literally all day. I was moving very slowly. Today I sit here with you and say, “Girlfriends isn’t God good?” He will never let us stray far enough away from His paths and purposes if we are open to His urgings and convictions, which leads me to my next point.

Kevin and I are getting ready to start a Crown Financial Bible Study on Finances. We are poor money managers and we need desperately to fall in line with God’s will for our finances. Without getting into too personal of information and not being to candid, I must say we don’t have a balanced checkbook and my filing/recordkeeping consists of a basket and box. It is a sad situation. This morning I am feeling a little better physically. I NEED to start organizing our paperwork and start a checkbook register, etc. I just sat at my desk a minute ago, and I sat there feeling like this is an overwhelming project. I don’t know where to start. I prayed and asked God for a blog topic. I needed a distraction from my tasks ahead.

I picked up my Our Daily Bread devotional and read today’s entry. It’s entitled His Part; Our Part. The scripture basis is Joshua 1:1-9. Joshua was put into a position of great responsibility. He was most likely aware of the challenge to follow the lead that Moses had, as Joshua was to lead the people into the Promised Land. However the Lord gave Him an assuring promise: “I will not leave you nor forsake you” and “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

The author, Richard De Haan, of this entry in Our Daily Bread states: If God has given you some special work to do that frightens you; it’s your responsibility to jump at it. It’s up to the Lord to see you through. As you faithfully do your part, He will do His part.

Well, hallelujah! The bottom of the devotion says “Where God guides, God provides!” I can’t keep putting this task off. I need to jump right in and let Him provide the how to. As for the “scheduling”, well I will seek His will for each day. I will have a tentative plan each morning, but I actually look forward to what hoops He will roll my way. Today’s hoop: the blasted basket of bills and receipts.

Enjoy your day. Remember the Lord your God is wherever you go. We’re heading to the den with baskets in tow, red eyes, red checkbook and a red lettered Bible.

Love ya, Girlfriends.

Sorry you are feeling a bit under the weather. Hope you are better soon and that your checkbook and bills look better than mine...
