I am watching I Love Lucy as I am writing this blog. She is practicing with a doll on how to take care of an infant. She is pregnant. She has a manual, a toy doll, and all the necessities...diapers, etc. She carefully reads the book. She tries to follow the instructions exactly. She is careless however in the delivery of each of the exercises. She has the heart, she has the manual, but she gets distracted and the act of taking care of the baby is sloppy and ineffective. Her enthusiasm remains however. Her husband enters the scene and he reassures her she will be ok and encourages her to rest and take care of her baby.
Who's your baby? What has God asked you to birth in this world? What is your purpose and goal spiritually? We all have a life assignment. Who do we need to see receive Christ? What organization or ministry do you support and pray for? How is your family life going are you a...good wife? nurturing mother? supportive family member? Only you know what God has called you to do. Think about it.
Now, like Lucy, you are expecting (a goal accomplished for God). We have the manual - the Bible, preachers/Christian resources to utilize. We read and follow instructions. When it comes time to practice our information and head for completion for the goal, do we carefully do what the Bible says? I don't. I need to give more respect, be more romantic, and nurture my marriage. I know what I am supposed to do. I have the resources. But my delivery is sloppy. So ladies, what are the consequences for my falling short?
Well, like Ricky did for Lucy. God reassures us. We are not to give up. He tells us to keep trying. We are to rest in Him. He keeps us encouraged to take care of our goal/assignment. I don't believe our Father God is a skeptic or critical. He knows we aren't perfect and we will fall short, but He gives us the strength to keep going. We have the responsibility to keep trying. Praise God! He is slow to anger ladies. He made us and we are to be like Him. God is the very meaning and existence of love. He loves us. I still struggle with the reality of God's love for me, specifically me. I choose to believe it.
Girlfriends, be encouraged! Accomplish your big and little goals with the power of God behind you, and when we are weary and sloppy, remember He didn't come to condemn but to save us from our sins. You see, in this episode of I Love Lucy. Lucy believes that Ricky is only interested in the birth of the baby and not herself. She whines and mopes. Ricky does everything he can to change her attitude. He gives her gifts, and rewards her with a night out. She finally accepts his attentions and his generousity. Girls, God sees our frustration and pain and he will bless us along the way to improve our attitudes. So look for those blessing today.
In the very end of the episode, everyone is so excited that Lucy feels loved and encouraged. Lucy ends up in tears. Now she states that everyone cares for her happiness and not the baby...the birth of her son. Be assured, my dear friends, our Father God is huge in power and omnipresence. He has our whole world in His hands.
Have a super day, I will now pull myself away from the TV. acf
PS: For my Bible study ladies, don't give up on your studies. If you don't finish the daily studies, still come to class. We will see this to completion. I am several days behind myself and I am planning a marathon study before tomorrow night.
