She's in a Mood

Good Morning My Friends

Beware according to my friend Brooke I am "in a mood".  I am actually fine.  I do have a head ache. I found out yesterday that I have to have cataract surgery in March.  I guess I really am getting old.  This old stuff has put me into what I highly esteem as "mentor" status.  So I decided to "mentor" my dear unofficial adopted daughter.  She still thinks its nagging.  It is.

This morning while serving breakfast Brooke declares her home is a mess but she wants a nap. Though that statement sounded oh so familiar, I broke out my Titus 2 theology.  She is the head of her household right now and she is the homekeeper.  She needs to clean her house and prepare for her children to come home and enjoy a meal with them.  She normally works evenings and today is her weekend.  I would like to say I was dishing this advice out with the sweet honey of encouragement but oh no I was my "ice pick" self (remember that post).  I said to her playfully, "You really are trailer trash."  She rightfully said "I am going to take a nap.  The house can wait, and you are way to compulsive and they make medicine for that."  Ladies we were truly laughing and making fun but I know I overstepped my boundaries.  I reassured her I loved her and yes her life is her own.  She agreed and told Cory "watch out she's in a mood!"  So a mentor I am not....yet!

I am a wife and homekeeper however.  I am going to clean my house and pick up my ingrate son at school and take him to DMV to replace his lost license.  I will bring him back to school and await my fate for a lunch date with a friend or ????.  I will review my Titus 2 notes and my Praying Wife book.  You see, my dear friends,  I think we can "get away from" or forget what we know to be true and right by just "going with the flow" and maintaining the thought that "well I read or learned that before" or "been there.  done that."   Reading the Bible once or a even a chapter or book once doesn't mean you don't go back and revisit or restudy it.  His word is so refreshing and we learn new things and/or revive our dedication to adhere to its instructions.

I often highlight in the books I read.  If I don't want to reread a book, I read only the highlights.  I am talking about good books by Godly authors on life issues, etc.  Of course the Bible never gets old.  I am so thankful for our previous pastor's charge to live a life given over to the Lordship of Jesus.  He inspired me to read just what my life is to be like according to the Bible.  Our current interim pastor has truly exposed me to the blessings of the Old Testatment and I can't wait to hear him each time the doors open at church.   I am looking forward to some deep Bible study of the Old Testament.  I have grown to find it very interesting.  So a new Bible is in the works for me.  I can't wait to get it.

Girlfriends, today I encourage you to revisit a favorite book, a favorite chapter in the Bible, or reread some sermon notes.  It will inspire you and maybe revive a new commitment to excellence in some part of your life or in reaching a goal.  You might have forgotten a detail or two that will spark a new outlook or commitment.    It could be something simple like "I will smile more".  How will I accomplish this?  I will read about the joy of knowing my God and how big and awesome He is.  Don't wait until you are told "you are in a mood"  or the "ice pick" comes out in you.  Ouch!

Galatians 5:13-14 (New International Version)

13You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love. 14The entire law is summed up in a single command: "Love your neighbor as yourself."

HAVE A GREAT DAY!  Choose your words wisely today.  acf
