Break Out the Kleenex

This is a quick post. I want to share something I heard on the way home tonight. It was a radio spot from Charlotte Rescue Mission. It sponsors a daily word on the radio. I am always excited when I catch it.

Tonight the spokesperson shared something I found very clever. It was about "who" we should invest our time with and how to have balance in our lives when it comes to serving our Lord and taking care of our families. He shared about being a PK - a preacher's/pastor's kid. He said they sometimes can be the worse children in the church because they act out, screaming for attention because their fathers are busy taking care of their congregation. It was a nice, helpful spot but then he made his point. The people we spend time with should be the ones who care for us and need us (our children, etc.). He ended his radio spot by saying:

"Invest your time the ones who will cry at your funeral."

Sounds a little morbid. But think about it. It will make sense. Then consider how and with whom you will spend your God given time with. Suddenly my need to run out and do girlfriend things at the expense of a rare night at home with both teenage boys at home, hurts my heart. I have some friends that will cry at my funeral and I have an acquaintance(s) who is high maintenance but I join her to keep her satisfied. Hmm! I don't think Kleenex will make any money off her. That sounded ugly...Sorry.

The simple point here is invest, spend and enjoy your loved ones and those who love you. Except for mission work for the Lord, then maybe you better rethink your priorities or at least the company you keep.

Life is exhausting! There is always so much to learn. I sometimes feel like saying "Stop Lord, not another life lesson. I want to play!!!" Enjoy your weekend. Who knows I might have another quick post over the weekend. I am still waiting for some craziness to report. I guess I should be grateful for the calm.

Good Night, girlfriends!

I enjoyed your post. I often feel like I need to guard my computer time because mt time with my family is so much more important. But we all need that "Me" time. I hope you have a great week.
Hugs. Lisa
