Country Song Living

Ladies, as we prepare for the New Year making New Year Resolutions or New Year Intentions, we need to not only think of our physical resolutions but our emotional. I woke up with a song on my mind. It wasn't a spiritual song and I found it quite surprising. I will share it in a minute.

I want to urge you, girl friends, to find your joy and clear your mind of senseless junk. I am not sure how to do this but I would start with some down on the knees prayer and a refreshing drink of God's Word. This is the extent of my spiritual advice on this post....for now...I think. Lol!

Ladies, I think some of us (I do) tend to get fed up with our lives. The status quo gets boring or exhausting. I think some of us would love to just take a walk on the wild side sometimes. I am sure you are not going to be as candid or as "stupid" to say this out loud but I would bet there is a wild woman in all of us. We may not live this out loud but hey, when things get rough and we allow our minds to wander, throwing caution to wind sounds like fun.

So my hope and prayer for my friends - YOU - is that in the New Year you will find "contentment". You will find it or you will create it in your heart. It is when we seek contentment and choose joy in our lives...then we will truly live. Stop putting off living in joy and in fun until ????? You fill in the blank. This is going to be an interesting year. We are going to have our guards up. Some of us are nervous. I want to urge you to find your peace in Christ and create some fun in Him and in good, clean, healthy family and "Girl Friend" experiences.

Otherwise you could star in the Lyrics from the Martina McBride Song that played in my head this morning:
When God Fearing Women Get the Blues

Lock up your husbands
Lock up your sons
Lock up your whiskey cabinets
Girls lock up your guns
And Lock up the beauty shop
No tellin if they've heard the news
Call the boys downtown and Neiman Marcus
Tell Em' lock them high heeled shoes

Chorus:
When God fearin' women get the blues
There ain't no slap down a tellin what they're gonna do
Run around yellin
I've got a mustang it'll do 80
You don't have to be my baby
I stirred my last batch of gravy
You don't have to be my, be my, be my baby

Call all the deacons
Call the ladies aid
Call all the altos, sopranos
Tenors call every bass
Well call all the pentacostals
And bring all the annointing oil too
Well call the preacher
He's the only one who can reach her
And there ain't no time to lose

Chorus: (above)

She's on all our prayer lists
She's on all our hearts
As for the Easter cantata
We don't know who'll sing her part

Ladies, I bought Cory some "dog tags" from Things Remembered this Christmas. He wanted his life verse reference inscripted on it. It spoke to me and I hope it speaks to you in the New Year. When things get unclear and you are challenged in daily life remember this verse:

For We Walk by Faith, not by Sight
2 Corinthians 5:7

Anna,

What happens when you're married to the preacher and he just rolls his eyes at you??? Seriously, that song is cute, cute, cute! But you know, wild isn't all bad, as long as you keep it in the right places...
