I am thankful:
For the fight last night I had with the covers of our bed. I will be ditching my pretty, silky, slippery comforter for my trusty plaid, thick, warm faded comforter. I am thankful for sensibility. I am thankful for His provision of a warm bed.
For the 100lb bag of dirty laundry on my wash room floor that Cory brought home from college. I can't think of nothing better than sorting through wet towels and well worn socks. I am thankful for my washer to clean them. I am thankful for the provision of soap and water. I am thankful I can smell the his fragrant remains of cologne. I am thankful he made it home safely. I am thankful for his loving arms that hug (crush) me.
For the boy upstairs I will have to pry out of bed around noon to ride with me to pick up my nephew. I just love entering his room booby trapped with shoes, guitar picks and dirty glasses. I am thankful because he is home and safe. He is clean (subject off limits), and Tim will be the first one to say "Thank You for Dinner" tomorrow. I love this boy!!!
For the man who I will have to repeat myself one hundred times so he can hear me as he helps me in the kitchen tomorrow. I just love cleaning up after all his help. In the morning, I will have to tell him to go put shoes on his cold, not so handsome feet, as I have for 21 years. I am thankful for my husband, his feet, and his willingness to help. I am thankful God gave me a loyal, Godly man, who love me just the way I am (Hey, what's not to love?). Kevin is my world.
For the unpacked groceries bags strewn around my kitchen since lunch time yesterday. I came home tired, and cold. The refrigerated stuff made its way to the refrigerator. By the way, I am thankful for the side by side appliance with water and ice in the door that I always wanted, BUT you can't fit squat in it! I am thankful for the shopping experience. I had my saving card on me. I had my coupons. They rang it up right. I saved over $25 in coupons. I didn't have to go back for any errors - Yahoo! I am thankful for God's provision for these groceries all mixed up in their bags. I will be grateful when I find bread squished and my cleanser by the sugar bag. I genuinely thankful for being able to feed my family and celebrating Thanksgiving with good food.
For the retrieval of the Family Heirloom turkey platter. I will get practice balancing assorted serving pieces while the platter is removed from the bottom of the stack on the very top shelf of the cupboard. Who put it there? I am thankful for my mother in law who saw it fit for me to have this platter. I feel honored and use it faithfully. I am thankful that I can carry on some Friend tradition. I am thankful for my tall husband who of course will be retrieving the platter.
For the millions of "forwards" stuffed in my email, the last minute phone calls, and hundreds of texts that I get to manage and respond. I have FRIENDS! I am thankful for you! Your patience, your understanding and your support. You fill my days with loving contact and we are growing memories. God has given me you! Thank you for sharing life with me.
Ladies, I am thankful for so many things. I hope you will find some time to reflect on what you are truly thankful for and tell someone....especially our Father in Heaven. If you have a chance please look up this link, http://www.cpmsglife.org. I hope you get the video. It was sent to me by a friend whose son is in the Navy. He will not be with his family until after the holidays. Please pray for my friend, in fact, two of my friends who have sons in military service. Their tables will be minus one setting. They will need our prayers.
Thanksgiving Prayers

Moravian Blessing
Come, Lord Jesus, our guest to be
And bless these gifts
Bestowed by Thee.
And bless our loved ones everywhere,
And keep them in Your loving care.
Be present at our table, Lord.
Be here and everywhere adored.
Thy creatures bless and grant that we
May feast in paradise with Thee.

we are about to receive from thy bounty,

Heavenly Father, on Thanksgiving Day
We bow our hearts to You and pray.
We give You thanks for all You've done
Especially for the gift of Jesus, Your Son.
For beauty in nature, Your glory we see
For joy and health, friends and family,
For daily provision, Your mercy and care
These are the blessings You graciously share.
So today we offer this response of praise
With a promise to follow You all of our days.

We Give Thanks
Our Father in Heaven,
We give thanks for the pleasure
Of gathering together for this occasion.
We give thanks for this food
Prepared by loving hands.
We give thanks for life,
The freedom to enjoy it all
And all other blessings.
As we partake of this food,
We pray for health and strength
To carry on and try to live as You would have us.
This we ask in the name of Christ,
Our Heavenly Father.
